JAMIE LENA KERSLAKE - The Ruins of an Over-Enthused Heart Album Launch, presented by Archive, at a private residence for a cosy houseconcert

Expect a moodlit intimate evening of soul-stirring sounds, from Jamie Lena Kerslake

To connect with like-minded souls along her travels, Jamie will be running a choir workshop for ticket holders at the venue during the late afternoon before the show. This pop up choir will be led through some of Jamie’s tunes, and invited to sing with her in the evening. 

The location of this secret show will be sent to all ticket-holders the day before.

This September and October, soul-stirring singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist JAMIE LENA KERSLAKE offers audiences an intimate, early preview of her highly anticipated debut alt-folk record, The Ruins of an Over-Enthused Heart.

The Ruins of an Over-Enthused Heart serves as a container for the compulsory human experience of examining and excavating old habits. Mixed and mastered by Nick Herrera (Emma Donovan, Danika, Nai Palm), this record is a gentle yet persistent unravelling of inherited beliefs about relationship, grief and politics.

In a bold defiance of modern streaming culture, the record will initially be available exclusively in the 3D: via vinyl, CD, and live performances. The album will be distributed to streaming platforms gradually over the next 12 months, but delivered first into the hands and ears of those willing to hold it in it’s entirety, prioritising deep, distraction-free, and in-person listening.

While the recorded album boasts gracious strings, full band arrangements, and sleek backing vocals, this tour brings each song back to its roots - just Jamie, her intricate guitar arrangements, and a voice likened to "milk and honey". Audiences will experience the tunes as they were written; at once a knife, a salve, and an elixir.

Jamie has played festivals such as St Kilda Festival, and Womadelaide, and supported artists including Ruby Mary Gill, Jack Davies, and Allysha Joy.  Her debut EP earned airplay on triple j, landed in APRA’s top 10 Regional Charts, and gained recognition in the South Australian music awards.

We acknowledge the Gumbaynggirr people as the first custodians of this place, and pay respects to their elders past and present, and young ones coming in to power.

Tijuana Cartel fuse deep electronic grooves with flamenco guitar, Middle-Eastern motifs and punchy trumpet lines to create a sound that’s unmistakably their own. The project began on Australia’s Gold Coast with guitarist Paul George and producer/keyboardist Carey O’Sullivan; it has since evolved into a powerhouse live outfit featuring percussionist Sheila Finke and a rotating roster of trumpet virtuosos such as Tristan Rogers.

Their shows are equal parts club workout and global street party; layered soundscapes, heavy bass and kinetic percussion that turn curiosity into catharsis. From Splendour in the Grass, WOMAD and Woodford to Earth Frequency, Chi Wow Wah Town and beyond, the band have carved out their own corner of the Australian festival circuit, while tours through Europe and the USA have won them an ever-growing international following.

Fusing the passion of folk music, the precision of classical, and the spontaneity of jazz, 'Cigány Weaver' create a rich and vibrant atmosphere for both the heart and mind. Front woman, Jo Davie's soaring vocals and enchanting gentle demeanour combine with the fiery violin, dynamic guitars and driving rhythm section to create a purely acoustic group that effortlessly navigates the musical nexus between intimacy and raucousness.

JOSEPH FAIRBURN (Mid North Coast)

Joseph S. Fairburn is a Bellingen based visionary singer-songwriter and producer whose music is a transcendent journey through the realms of folk, rock, country, and psychedelia. With a sound steeped in the golden age of 60s and 70s music but reimagined through a modern lens, Fairburn crafts intricate, progressive compositions that stir the soul and ignite the imagination. His work is a mosaic of dynamic shifts, tempo changes, and unconventional time signatures, creating soundscapes that are as whimsical as they are profound.His lyrics, often exploring themes of dreams, existential wonder, and the mysteries of life, resonate with a sense of poetic intimacy and universal connection.

BAHI (Mid North Coast)

Bahi is an indie-folk artist raised in the unceded lands of Gumbaynggirr Country. Their songwriting is guided by felt experience, the more-than-human world and an aching yet joyous heart. With a voice that feels like the kind of moss you want to rub your soul in and guitar playing that you could float down rivers to...you'll be sure to feel something. Brazilian musician Sadin Lima moved to Australia 40 years ago and has spent years traveling the country and sharing his musical talents. Sadin will kick off the afternoon with a set of smooth Brazilian bossa nova and samba sounds.

PABLO BLITZER - MANOUCHE JAZZ QUARTET

Pablo Blitzer is a Composer and Multi-Instrumentalist from Buenos Aires, Argentina and now living on the Coffs coast.

He started his musical training at the age of 9, and by the time he was 13 he was accepted at one of Buenos Aires’s most renowned conservatoriums. Pablo now performs with several musical outfits as well as teaching music at Coffs Con.

Manouche Jazz is 'a version of swing music that was born around the 1930’s in France from the influence of the music that was coming in from the USA and the folkloric language of a particular group of people of manouche (gypsy) descent. It’s also a great way for non-jazz listeners to dip their toes in the genre, as it is light-hearted and happy and very accessible to everyone.'

Local Nambucca resident Kaya will be closing the evening with a drumming parade, grab some shakers and join in the fun!

A laid back Life Drawing Session to inspire creativity whilst listening to the soothing sounds of a live musician. For all levels of experience, beginners welcome!

Charcoal, butchers paper and drawing boards provided.
Please BYO art supplies if you prefer to use something different.

We will begin the first half of the evening with a series of quick drawing exercises & after a short break, resume the second half with longer poses and time to lose yourself to the art and tunes. This session is about letting go of restraints and just relaxing into creativity.

There are limited table spaces available, all other spots are seats with drawing boards. If you require a table due to the type of medium you're working with (i.e. paints, clay etc) or other reasons, please request a table spot at the time of booking. Thankyou!

MUSICIAN: HANNAH HARLEN

Hannah Harlen is a singer/songwriter, guitar player and loop artist from Bellingen NSW, Hannah’s music draws inspiration from her relationship with nature, vital momentum, oneness, love and community. Hannah weaves through her song’s stories of her own personal experiences and enchants listeners wherever she plays. Hannah places emphasis on healing and connection to nature in her songwriting.

Hannah incorporates percussive playing and open tunings on her acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica and bass to her concoction of songs and stories, looping bass lines and vocal harmonies, with velvety warm smooth soulful tones that make people pay attention.

Neo-bush balladeer Watty Thompson explores themes of inward and outward love, togetherness, and a desire to strive and live beyond the material. It’s affirming, joyous and inspiring, all played out against a background of rollicking country flavoured Australiana folk. He's hitting the road this May for a series of intimate solo performances to commemorate the issue of his reflective new single 'Under The Stars'.

A long time advocate for self-care and the journey toward your own contentment, ‘Under The Stars’ arrives as a timely reminder for mindfulness in a frankly frightening world full of chaos and digital distraction. Watty adds, ‘Under The Stars’ is "a little ode to using stargazing as a nice activity to find inner peace and reconnect with ourselves while living in an age saturated by superficial noise."  

Beyond that, ‘Under The Stars’ is a lilting slice of unabashed modern indie Australiana delivered by one of our most loveable storytellers, and is sure to add to the acclaim of his 2023 self-tiled debut album and beloved recent single ‘Rock & Roll’.

On the Under The Stars Tour, Watty ventures throughout Victoria and NSW on a run of rare solo shows that will again deliver straight-from-the-heart music, moving grown folks to both tears of joy and sorrow. Watty stops by Bellingen for a rare intimate solo performance at the memorial hall on Thursday May 28th.

He'll be joined by special guest Brodie Buttons. From the shearing shed to the scrub, with songs both new and old, Brodie Buttons will stare you down and hit you where it hurts. 

Travelling all over chasing work and the music he’s found a way of crooning an old ballad or thumping out some blood boiling mountain tune on the banjo that can stop a dog in its tracks. You won’t know you’re arse from your elbow once Brodie has had his say.

Great Southern Nights in association with Archive Mid North Coast Presents:

Emma Donovan brings her acclaimed new album Take Me to the River to the historic Bowraville Theatre for a deeply special album launch close to Country that holds profound personal and cultural significance.

First unveiled at Darwin Festival and since performed on stages around the country, including a recent season at Sydney Festival, Take Me to the River is more than a concert. It is a gathering. A calling-in. A return to soul music as inheritance, memory and truth-telling. Drawing on timeless songs made famous by artists such as Al Green, Aretha Franklin and Ann Peebles, Donovan reimagines this repertoire through her own lived experience, heritage and extraordinary voice.

Lisa Mitchell is renowned for her beguiling melodies and hushed tones whether playing crystal pure folk such as in the sublime “Pirouette”, or wrapped-up in subtle electro beats such as 2016’s “The Boys”, or the always-popular “Coin Laundry”.   

Lisa has gone on to release 4 albums and 3 EPs garnering top ten ARIA accreditations and multiple ARIA award nominations, winning the Australian Music Prize for her debut “Wonder” and spots at all major festivals across Australia and multiple international tours including playing Glastonbury.

After starting Lisa Mitchell Choir in Naarm early 2025, Lisa will be bringing her serene and honeyed sessions to the choir curious across this run of shows in Regional NSW.  Participants will have a 60 min choir session with Lisa before doors open, where they will learn one of her songs in harmony arrangement, and then get to perform the song with her on the night.  This special and exclusive offering is un-auditioned and open to all who want to connect with their voice and heart and have the experience of performing in a relaxed, casual environment.

Ali Shakaki Band

Ali Shakaki is a Kurdish musician celebrated for his captivating voice and extraordinary mastery of the tanbur. Originally from Afrin, Syria, he has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s finest Kurdish musicians. Ali often describes the tanbur as half of his body, reflecting a lifelong bond with this traditional instrument that shapes his identity and sound. Ali will be playing accompanied by Laura Targett, Emiliano Beltzer and Matt Ledgar.

Joe Terror

Joe Terror is a prolific singer-songwriter hailing from Grafton, NSW. Known for his unique guitar style, he delivers heartfelt alternative country songs with a strong, emotive voice.

Bahi

Bahi is the pseudonym for local singer/songwriter Portia Hackett. Bahi started songwriting from age 11 as a way to process the big feelings of life. Her husky velvet tones and rhythmic guitar playing are a soundtrack to dream and reflect to.

Zoobop

Zoobop are a fresh, five-piece force out of Bellingen, blending irresistible groove with punchy originals, their sound draws from soul jazz and global rhythms. Expect upbeat, high-energy and dripping with attitude.

Monstress

Monstress are a five-piece all-female and non-binary creative collective based on Gadigal land in Sydney. Their sound spans nu-jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary original music, fusing each member’s lived experience through hard-hitting, sharp-witted lyrical storytelling and improvisation-driven composition.

DMT Pancake (Dangerous Mountain Terrain)

A "folkadelic" symphony of Celtic funk! Expect a healthy dose of weirdness and huge dancefloor energy from this 7 piece act - based in Gadigal land, Sydney.

Conor is an Irish Heritage Australian artist raised in Garlambirla (Coffs Harbour).

Conor’s reflective songwriting seeks out the personal in the traditional, crafting mesmerising compositions that always invite a singular connection with the listener.
Equally a fan of the old field recordings as he is of the new worlds of folk, Conor’s broad range of influences can be found in the everyday imaginations to the Folklore of Ireland.

Nestled in the Hunter Valley bushland’s Tractor Studio at Dashville, where music and family intertwine, cosmic country - soul outfit Magpie Diaries re-emerge, with a new body of work that is both deeply personal and unmistakably theirs.

Blending soul, country and ’70s folk-rock, Some Kind Of View is more than a collection of songs — it’s a time capsule. A heartfelt nod to family and to the land.

CJ Stranger is a guitar slinging, story-telling songwriter living on Darug Country, Blue Mountains. His music draws on folk songwriting traditions combined with an adventurous sonic palette courtesy of his exploratory guitar and banjo style. Known for his unique and creative guitar sound, CJ has become an in-demand session player for many artists including William Crighton, Melody Pool, Middle Kids, John Schumann (Redgum), Lisa McCune, Angie Who, Magpie Diaries and toured extensively in bands opening for the likes of Midnight Oil, Bloc Party and the War on Drugs. In 2022 CJ toured Australia and New Zealand in a new theatre play by Connor Mcpherson and Bob Dylan entitled ‘Girl from the North Country’.

The Kinfolk Orkestar is a collective of rare talent, where folk music meets jazz meets a groove that moves body and soul. This is where traditional melodies dare to venture into phonic forays of virtuosic improvisation, where the sweeter sounds of bow on strings and breath in brass collide with raw rhythm groove and power, creating an emergent sonic property greater than the sum of its parts.

The Kinfolk Orkestar play tunes from Eastern Europe to Latin America to the Celtic world and beyond, both traditional and contemporary. Following a sold-out national tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of his landmark debut Feeding the Wolves, beloved singer-songwriter Josh Pyke is heading back out on the road — this time bringing the songs to regional Australia.

The Feeding the Wolves and Other Stories tour will see Josh perform 35 solo shows across VIC, NSW, QLD, WA, TAS and the ACT. These intimate performances strip the songs back to their purest form, giving fans the chance to experience favourites like Middle of the Hill, The Summer and The Lighthouse Song alongside other gems from his extensive catalogue.

Josh Pyke is one of Australia’s most respected songwriters, with a career spanning more than two decades.
