Watty Thompson 'Under The Stars' Tour

Get tickets

Neo-bush balladeer Watty Thompson explores themes of inward and outward love, togetherness, and a desire to strive and live beyond the material. It’s affirming, joyous and inspiring, all played out against a background of rollicking country flavoured Australiana folk. He's hitting the road this May for a series of intimate solo performances to commemorate the issue of his reflective new single 'Under The Stars'.

A long time advocate for self-care and the journey toward your own contentment, ‘Under The Stars’ arrives as a timely reminder for mindfulness in a frankly frightening world full of chaos and digital distraction. Watty adds, ‘Under The Stars’ is "a little ode to using stargazing as a nice activity to find inner peace and reconnect with ourselves while living in an age saturated by superficial noise."

Beyond that, ‘Under The Stars’ is a lilting slice of unabashed modern indie Australiana delivered by one of our most loveable storytellers, and is sure to add to the acclaim of his 2023 self-tiled debut album and beloved recent single ‘Rock & Roll’.

On the Under The Stars Tour, Watty ventures throughout Victoria and NSW on a run of rare solo shows that will again deliver straight-from-the-heart music, moving grown folks to both tears of joy and sorrow. Until you see and hear him again, Watty sends a reminder that, "creating space to be alone with our thoughts is crucial. Stargazing is great for that. Infinite lights of guidance…"

Watty stops by Bellingen for a rare intimate solo performance at the memorial hall on Thursday May 28th.

He'll be joined by special guest Brodie Buttons. From the shearing shed to the scrub, with songs both new and old, Brodie Buttons will stare you down and hit you where it hurts.

Travelling all over chasing work and the music he’s found a way of crooning an old ballad or thumping out some blood boiling mountain tune on the banjo that can stop a dog in its tracks. You won’t know you’re arse from your elbow once Brodie has had his say.

Emma Donovan - Take Me To The River

Great Southern Nights in association with Archive Mid North Coast Presents:

Emma Donovan brings her acclaimed new album Take Me to the River to the historic Bowraville Theatre for a deeply special album launch close to Country that holds profound personal and cultural significance.

First unveiled at Darwin Festival and since performed on stages around the country, including a recent season at Sydney Festival, Take Me to the River is more than a concert. It is a gathering. A calling-in. A return to soul music as inheritance, memory and truth-telling. Drawing on timeless songs made famous by artists such as Al Green, Aretha Franklin and Ann Peebles, Donovan reimagines this repertoire through her own lived experience, heritage and extraordinary voice.

Reviewing the Sydney Festival performance, Beyond The Encore wrote:

“This was not a concert in the conventional sense; it was a gathering… music returned to its source, family, Country, memory, and spirit.”

Presented in the intimate setting of Bowraville Theatre, this album launch promises to be one of the most powerful and personal performances of the Take Me to the River journey to date. Expect warmth, reverence, soaring vocals and moments that linger long after the final note.

A rare opportunity to experience Emma Donovan in full voice, on Country, with heart wide open.

The great Jorge Ben Jor's 1969 Brazillian classic 'Take It Easy My Brother Charles' has become a much loved live favourite whenever Bobby Alu and Fernando Aragones (Animal Ventura) cross paths on the tour trail. The musical delight between the friends is magical, and best summed up with the lyric "Eu canto a alegria" - I sing of joy.

With summer approaching, it felt like just the right time to capture a recording of the ode to joy and take it on the road for a 10-date spin across NSW, QLD and WA.

Family Friendly "Whether you’re on, near, or simply pining for a body of water and a calmer frame of mind, Bobby’s brand of coastal folk will take you there. It takes a lot of skill to make something this good sound so effortless." Dorothy Markek – Double J “His chilled out Pacific tunes have a long-lasting feel good effect and his finely crafted songs have instant appeal.” ABC Radio Australia “Smooth hammock music genius.” The AU Review

::Bobby Alu::
If you ask Australian/Samoan singer, ukulele strummer and drummer Bobby Alu what his music sounds like, he’ll tell you how he hopes it makes you feel: like you have your favourite drink in hand, sipping as the sun sets on a warm evening that’s laden with the promise of adventure. In an ideal world, he’d follow summer around the earth, in his endless quest to nail that feeling in his songs that ride the groove spectrum from Polynesian folk, through roots, reggae, harmony laden soul to tropical pop.

With a reputation as a world-class performer – touring as Xavier Rudd’s percussionist for five years, and supporting the likes of Xavier, John Butler Trio and Trevor Hall across North America and Europe – Bobby’s most recent album Keep It Tropical debuted at #3 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart. Though it’s primarily a mission statement: Take naps. Be generous. Go on adventures. Have gratitude. Enjoy the little things. Strive to be better. Don’t be so serious. Love. Laugh a lot. Eat the odd donut. Swim in the ocean. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth.

::supported by Animal Ventura::
Animal Ventura is the brainchild of Byron Bay-based singer-songwriter Fernando Aragones. Growing up playing punk and reggae in noisy garage bands in Southern Brazil, Aragones ventured to Australia where the eclectic sounds of the Sydney music scene beckoned.

What sets Animal Ventura apart is a unique ability to effortlessly fuse funk rhythms from his native South America with the coastal indie folk of Australian shores, combined with the new wave of live looping and his thirst for solid neat beats. To top it off his soothing and timeless vocals hold strength and passion in their delivery.

Shark & Fox - Stay Curious Tour with Zeal H

Presented by Archive Mid North Coast & Bespoke Folk Music...

Imagine you’ve stepped sideways into a fever dream of extra-terrestrial folk — where lush harmonies clash with wild rhythms, folk meets soul and electronica, and you truly belong listening and dancing within this lush, slow burning musical eco-system.

Zeal H. (FKA Mia Petra) make their return to the Mid-North Coast, traveling with Canadian-Australian sonic shape-shifters Shark & Fox.

Shark & Fox | Canada’s Jaron Freeman-Fox bounces around violin-controlled synths and a child’s fretless stratocaster, Australia’s Emily-Rose Sharkova pumps accordion & miniature keyboards through the subs and Rose Callaghan drums a kit fashioned from an Argentinian bombo and Indonesian hand drums. Somewhere in between bent grooves and exquisite vocal incantations, they reshape traditional sounds into something wild, beautiful and unexpected.

Zeal H. | The combination of ZEAL’s intuitive writing style with the exploratory musicianship of her ensemble gives a sonic body to liminal, nuanced
emotions, while remaining deeply connected to the concept of place. Lush four-part harmonies move sideways through an ecosystem of percussion, acoustically controlled modular synth, elastic double bass, and undulating saxophone.

Come curious. Come limber. Come weird.

Clare Bowditch - What Was Left Tour

Special guests TBA

Twenty years ago, Melbourne's indie-darling, a young Clare Bowditch surprised even her own parents by scooping the coveted 'Best Female Artist ARIA' thanks to her break through album ‘What Was Left’. Recorded in the back shed with her then boyfriend, producer and drummer Marty Brown just one year after they welcomed their first child, ‘What Was Left’ stands as an extraordinary anomaly; a stunningly instrumented, profoundly intimate, cheeky, rebellious, heart-breaking, uplifting, and now uniquely beloved time-capsule of emotions and topics the majority of pop songs did their darndest to avoid - like grief and motherhood. Full of longing and passion, encouragement and cynicism.

In late 2025, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the seminal work that first brought the name Clare Bowditch into our orbit, join her for a run of regional shows. This is your perfect chance to be up-close and in person with one of Australias most entertaining story-tellers, to feel the warmth, hear the untold stories, and re-experience the songs from ‘What Was Left’. It will also be your first chance in a long time to hear Clare's new and yet to be released work, which some believe to be 'her finest yet'.

To mark this special occasion, ‘What Was Left’ will also be available for the very first time ever on Vinyl. Featuring the legendary artwork of Kat MacLeod, on beautiful white vinyl with full lyrics, and the limited edition ep “Loose Acoustic One Takes” that was a bonus disk with the initial CD release. The success of ‘What Was Left’ marked the beginning of what has been Clare's genuinely anomalous twenty year career as an artist and story-teller spanning acting, broadcasting, community advocacy and the penning of a best-selling memoir. Mostly, she says, she was just raising kids and pets and trying not to 'fuck it up'. You can hear all about it when you come to the shows.

Emily Lubitz Album Launch * SOLD OUT*

sold out

After more than a decade releasing albums and touring with award-winning indie-folk pioneers Tinpan Orange, Emily Lubitz has stepped out on her own. Her debut album, ‘Two Black Horses’ will be released on 18th July and she will celebrate with a national tour, stopping at historic Bowraville Theatre

Special guest support JOE TERROR

Lubitz is a veteran of the scene, having performed on some of the world’s biggest stages and premiere international festivals. She has collaborated with the likes of Paul Kelly, Martha Wainwright, Jen Cloher , Emma Donovan and Mama Kin, and yet her solo work is imbued with the raw energy of a breakthrough artist.

Emily’s new record, Two Black Horses sounds like an old Hollywood film, starring Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline and Phoebe Bridgers, who go on holidays together and talk about their feelings. She wrote the album for her family. It covers themes of forbidden love, immigration, death, loss and growing older with love and defiance, all captured in an alt-country dreamscape. Produced by Emily’s husband and long-time collaborator, Harry James Angus, Two Black Horses is a deeply personal collection of songs that speaks to heartache, heritage and hope.

“Emily's exquisite, brushed-velvet vocal conjures a steady neck-hair raising waltz” - The Age

“Strikingly assured” - Rolling Stone Australia

“What is it about Lubitz’s voice that makes it so incredibly captivating? Her timbre is otherworldly; hopeful and vulnerable, yet potent.” – Beat Magazine
